Expressions of Motherhood

Day:  Three Wednesday sessions

Fee: 40 AED per session

Location: Kutubna Cultural Center, Madina Avenues, Nadd Al Hamar, Dubai

This event offers mothers the possibility of reading poetry and prose about motherhood, looking at art depicting mothers, and engaging in discussions about literature and art while children are busy with age-appropriate sensory play, coloring, and/or painting at the same time and space. In each session participants also have time to express themselves through writing and/or art. All materials (including high chairs) are provided.

This is a space for community building, solidarity, and exploration of ideas and creativity. We welcome the loudness of little children, the chaos, and the nurturing of children while we talk.  There are no expectations that children need to be “well behaved” and the pace of each session is determined by the flow and needs of the group. We are not bothered by interruptions.

Our nursing room is spacious, air conditioned, and equipped with a changing table and diapers, but nursing in the group setting is also welcome. Babies, toddlers, and older children are all welcome. Mothers are also welcome to join without their children.

Participant can attend one, two, or all three sessions. Attendance in all three sessions is not required.
