This winter break, bring your kids to an exciting, hands-on one-week workshop where they will explore the world of magazines and unleash their creativity! This workshop is designed to introduce young minds to the fascinating process of creating a magazine from start to finish. Kids will be given an overview of print and digital magazine publishing. They will write, design, and illustrate their own magazine.
Throughout the week, participants will:
Learn the basics of writing: Crafting stories, listicles, and interviews that grab readers' attention.
Explore illustration: Drawing and designing unique visuals that bring ideas to life on the page.
Discover design: Organizing layouts, fonts, and colors to make their magazine visually appealing.
Develop editing skills: Refining content, fixing errors, and bringing a critical eye to every page.
Work as a team: Collaborating with other kids to build and bring together all the pieces of their magazine.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have created their own magazine, filled with their writing, artwork, and designs, and they can take home the finished product!
This program is led by Sarah Fuller, who holds an MA in publishing. She has worked at publishing houses in the US and published articles in newspapers. She is program associate at Kutubna Cultural Center, where she writes, edits, leads events, and makes wonderful things happen.
